Venezuelan Ambassador to Syria Imad Saab Saab said that during the third working visit of President Hugo Chávez Frías to the Middle East's country, both countries are monitoring their agreements. Further, the Venezuelan president and his Syrian counterpart will sign new agreements in areas such as customs and maritime commercial transportation.
Saab Saab added that the Venezuelan diplomatic mission is ready to receive President Chávez in Damascus, a new stopover in his tour of different countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
"The signing of four new agreements is ready, pending technical review," the Venezuelan Ambassador told state-run news agency AVN.
Saab stressed that one of the main items in the Venezuelan presidential agenda will be the inclusion of Syria as an observer in the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP).
The two countries also signed an agreement to develop cotton plantations in Venezuela.
