A day after ETA, the armed Basque separatist movement, announced a new ceasefire, the French and Spanish security forces detained the alleged "computer brain" of the Basque armed group, who is suspected of training members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in Venezuela.

Iraitz Guesalaga, who was arrested in the French town of Ciboure, on the border with Spain, was in charge of ETA's computer security, DPA reported.

The Civil Guard believes that Guesalaga and his girlfriend Itsaxo Urtiaga traveled in 2007 or 2008 to Venezuela to train members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in the development of applications to encrypt documents.
