Brazil a priority for Iran
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki says Latin America, Brazil in particular, is of foremost significance in Iran's foreign policy.

Published in: Press TV - November 3, 2008

“Iran affords South America major priority in its foreign policy and Brazil enjoys a special position in this respect,” Mottaki stated in Tehran on Saturday. He made the remark in a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Celso Amorim.

As to Brazil's international positions, the Iranian foreign minister said that Tehran and Brasilia generally share the same interests in numerous global matters which can be used as potential for bilateral consultations.

Amorim, for his part, described expansion of ties with Iran as a priority in Brazilian foreign policy. He also referred to his meeting with Mottaki as a 'turning point' in Brazil-Iran relations and expected the visits by the two nations' presidents will bring ties to a new level.

"We can turn our relations from merely trade into cooperation in the fields of science, industry, technology and culture. Iran has an ancient civilization which needs to be introduced to Brazilians,” the senior Brazilian diplomat said.

Amorim also underlined the need to hold a joint economic commission. “Such a commission provides a basis to expand bilateral relations, hold meetings between the two countries' presidents and finalize mutual agreements,” the Brazilian minister commented.

It caietrnly does appear that A comprehensive nuclear deal is there for the taking. Further indication that the nuclear issue is a red herring, made for TV.The real issue is Iranian sovereignty vs. US hegemony.
