Venezuelan Government ratifies recognition to Iranian people for Ahmadineyad's reelection

Published in: ABN - June 17, 2009

Caracas - The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela, through a statement issued by the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, expressed its recognition to the Iranian people by the historic electoral journey carried out the past June 12, which resulted in the reelection of the current President of Iran, Mahmud Ahmadineyad.

Following the full statement:

The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on behalf of the Venezuelan people, ratifies its recognition to the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the extraordinary democratic event they led last Friday, June 12, when the presidential elections registered historic levels of the people's participation and resulted in the reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadineyad.

The Bolivarian government of Venezuela expresses its strongest rejection to the fierce, unfounded, discrediting campaign launched against the institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran; a campaign aiming to cloud the political atmosphere of that fraternal country. From Venezuela, we denounce these acts meddling in the domestic affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and we demand the immediate cessation of these intimidation and destabilization maneuvers against the Islamic Republic.

The people and government of Venezuela are certain that the Iranian people will know how to deal with their domestic affairs and how to continue walking the path of the Islamic Revolution.
