Iranian MPs discuss with Bolivian president, senior officials

Published in: IRNA - May 20, 2009

Iranian members of parliament held talks with Bolivian President Evo Morales and Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca Wednesday on ways to foster parliamentary cooperation.

The talks were held in the presence of the head of Iran-Bolivia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Arsalan Fathi-Pour who arrived in the Bolivian capital city of La Paz on Tuesday.

President Morales expressed hope the two nations would further promote cooepration.

Meanwhile, the Bolivian foreign minister expressed pleasure with the visit of Iranian MPs to La Paz and said such visits would help foster bilateral relations.

Later, Choquehuanca called for further cooepration on gas and oil fields.

Fathi-Pour said for his part that Iran is willing to boost cooepration with the Latin American states including Bolivia.

He said the Islamic Republic of Iran supports Bolivia’s independent policies and presence of the Iranian companies in the development and industrial projects in Bolivia proves that claim.

Fathi-Pour, deputy chairman of Majlis Commission on Economic Affairs, appreciated the Bolivian nation and government for condemning the Israeli war crimes in the Gaza Strip.
