Valentina Rosendo Cantu was raped by Mexican soldiers in 2002 and has spent nearly a decade fighting for justice, hiding from people who have threatened her for speaking out against the military.
The Inter-American Court of Justice In 2010 recognized the rape and it ruled Mexico should try the soldiers under civil law.
Mexico is yet to fulfill the rulings on her case but in a step towards justice, Mexico's Supreme Court on July 12 2011 ruled soldiers accused of rights abuses should face civil trials.
