Early Wednesday morning a powerful car bomb exploded in front of a police barracks in Burgos, Spain. The attack was blamed on the Basque separatist group ETA. There were around 120 people in the barracks and surrounding buildings, a third of whom were children. The Basque Terrorist Group ETA did not call in a warning and therefore the building could not be evacuated. Police from seven countries arrested 17 people in the island of Curacao Tuesday suspected of involvement in an international drug ring with links to Hizbullah, Dutch authorities said. The group is suspected of having traded in some 2,000 kilograms of cocaine per year, the Dutch prosecution service said in a statement. The PSNI has arrested a 32-year-old man wanted on terrorism charges in Spain. The man was detained this morning on foot of a European Arrest Warrant and is expected to appear in court later today. Another Spaniard, former ETA leader Inaki de Juana Chaos, is currently fighting extradition from Northern Ireland to Spain on charges of inciting support for terrorism. Source:

MADRID - A Spanish court official says 14 people have gone on trial charged with involvement with Islamic terrorist groups and recruiting extremists to fight in Iraq. Some of the 14 are also accused of helping suspects in the March 11, 2004 train bombings in Madrid to flee Spain. Madrid - The Spanish police have arrested at least 11 people in Barcelona and Valencia suspected of forging documents for al Qaeda, the Spanish media reported on Tuesday, citing police sources.
