Mr. Andrew Standley, Head of the European Union Delegation to Mexico, attended to the first edition of the awarding of the "Gilberto Bosques" Human Rights Price, granted by the Embassies of France and Germany accredited in Mexico, which was carried out at the premises of the Commission of Human Rights in Mexico City.
The Price, which seeks to acknowledge individuals or groups of Human Rights defenders, was granted to Mr. Tomás González Castillo, director of the "La 72" house for migrants, located in the state of Tabasco; likewise, special mentions were given to Felícitas Martínez Solano, activist and defender of indigenous women in the state of Guerrero, as well as to Código DH, an organization defender of Human Rights in Oaxaca.
The event was also attended by the Amb. of France, Mrs. Elisabeth Beton Delègue; the Amb. of Germany, Dr. Edmund Duckwitz; the Mexico City's Ombudsman, Luis González Plascencia, as well as by distinguished members of the Mexican Government and of civil society organizations working in favour of Human Rights.
