Bolivia: Deputies Question Terrorism Suspects

La Paz - The special commission of the Bolivian Chamber of Deputies begins today the questioning of alleged members of a terrorist group arrested in Santa Cruz last April 16. Cesar Navarro, of the governing Movement to Socialism (MAS), heads the work group. He said deputies traveled to the San Pedro penitentiary in La Paz to start the process.

The pólice detained Juan Carlos Gueder Bruno and Alcides Mendoza Malavi, as well as members of the Union Juvenil Crucenista, opposition shock group last Tuesday and the civic committee of that Eastern región.

The MP announced that after receiving the statements of the detainees, will have concluded the first phase of the probe to elaborate a complete report which will be submitted to Congress next week.

Last Wednesday, Navarro assured the Commission was near of establishing who brought the alleged terrorists from abroad and who financed his stay in Bolivia.

The eve, Bolivian prosecutors revealed new evidence on the terrorist network, among them the presentation to the press of Gueder, who admitted to have sold a gun to Eduardo Rozsa Flores, extremist shot April 16 in the Santa Cruz hotel Las Americas.

Gueder accused other individuals of supporting the group, putting forward that at this time they should be facing justice.

As pàrt of the evidences withdrawn from a reserve status given to the probe until now, attorney Marcelo Sosa also presented 58 photographs found in a vehicle confiscated to the dismantled group two weeks ago.

The images show some of the terrorists with precisión weapons and automatic rifles. According to Sosa, the pictures were taken in hotels of Santa Cruz.

Together with Rozsa Flores, in the pólice operation died Michael Dwyer (Irish) and Magyarosi Arpak (Rumanian) while Elot Toazo (Hungarian) and Martin Tadik (Bolivian-Croat) were detained.

The international criminals had a weapons and C-4 plastic explosive arsenal, with which they planned to murder president Evo Morales and other leaders, as well as promote separatist violence in the Eastern department of Santa Cruz.
